While in residence at the ACC (National Asia Culture Center), Kim Jaehoon questioned the meaning of the theater space: Who is it for? What belongs on its stage? His project Theater 1 is a musical sonata made with and about the people he met there — a janitor, a local actor from Gwangju, and more. Their stories are woven together into a performance that breaks down the borders between stage and life, art and labor, the seen and unseen.
김재훈 은 국립아시아문화전당 공연 레지던시 작가로 입주하면서 극장이라는 공간에 규정해놓은 보편적인 정체성에 대해 고민하고 질문한다. '극장은 누구를 위해 존재하며 무엇을 하기 위한 공간일까?' '공연을 하기 위해서라면, 공연과 비공연의 경계는 어디에 있을까?' '어떤 사람들이 극장 무대에 오를 수 있는 것일까?' ACC에서 만나게 된 미화원들과의 작업은 공연의 1주제가 되고 광주에서 태어난 한 배우의 이야기는 2주제가 되어 질문에 대한 답을 확장시키는 보기가 된다. 1주제와 2주제는 음악과 함께 하나의 '소나타'로 연주된다.
